Charlotte Peace Assembly

 

NOTE WINTER SCHEDULE IN EFFECT! Peace Donors gather on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. prior to service at Unity of Charlotte for the remainder of December 2015 and through the end of February 2016.

 

NOTE Beginning March 2016! Join us every Thursday of the month as we amplify and radiate peace in and around Charlotte. Regardless of your faith background, you are welcome to participate in transforming this community to a more friendly, peaceful and compassionate place to live, play and work!  

Time: Meditation 7- 8 p.m. followed by our business meeting

Location: Unity of Charlotte, 401 East Arrowood

How: Collective Peace Meditations

A variety of members and supporters of the Charlotte Peace Assembly representing a range of meditation traditions, lead the meditations. These include Lawrence Toliver, Peace Centers International, and Rev. Nancy Ennis, Unity of Charlotte.

The Charlotte Peace Assembly is the core group of leaders that will facilitate the peace meditation trainings and lead the meditation practices for peace in distressed areas of Charlotte, North Carolina.  In addition to Lawrence Toliver, of Peace Centers International, Members of the Charlotte Peace Assembly are:

Rev. Nancy Ennis is Sr. Minister at Unity of Charlotte. She facilitates the Sacred Activist meetings on the second Mondays of the month. Rev. Nancy received recognition as Peace Donor in a ceremony during the International Peace Day Celebration, September, 2014.

When Lawrence Toliver attended Unity of Charlotte for the first time on January 6th, 2013 he says, "I had no idea about the Sacred Activist auxiliary and the subsequent support it would provide me to really make a difference." Unity of Charlotte hosted the 2013 International Academy of Sacred Leadership Conference, with Andrew Harvey, author of The Hope: A Guide to Sacred Activism and Chris Saade from The Olive Branch Center. Incidentally, Andrew Harvey gave a workshop and booksigning at the Berwyn Peace Center in 2010 about his book The Hope on Sacred Activism.

Sharon Mosley-Wright is a Board member of Peace Centers International and graphic artist. Sharon received recognition as Peace Donor in a ceremony during the International Peace Day Celebration, September, 2014.

Wendy Mills is a Science of Mind practitioner and a labyrinth enthusiast. Wendy is interested in further discussions on collective meditation and is familiar with the research presented in the book Permanent Peace and Transcendental Meditation
training.

Wendy received recognition as Peace Donor in a ceremony during the International Peace Day Celebration, September, 2014.

Cindy Rhodes Cindy teaches meditation at area hospitals and is one of the lead teachers with the Insight Meditation Community of Charlotte. During our discussion, she learned that I am a practitioner and admitted that she devours Science of Mind Magazine  every month.  Not only does Cindy acknowledge that collective meditation augments the efforts of every person involved, she actually teaches her students that collective meditation strengthens the effort.
